Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I recently installed a new head unit in my 987.1, and I spliced into the cigarette lighter light (small white wire with red stripe) for the illumination signal.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I recently installed a new head unit in my 987.1, and I spliced into the cigarette lighter light (small white wire with red stripe) for the illumination signal. However, now I have this odd set of results: ACC + Headlights OFF: cigarette light OFF, screen BRIGHT ACC + Headlights ON: cigarette light ON, screen DIM (expected) Ignition + Headlights OFF: cigarette light OFF, screen BRIGHT Ignition + Headlights ON: cigarette light ON, screen BRIGHT (not expected) Additionally, when I start in ACC mode with headlights and then start the engine, the screen stays dim. However, when I turn the headlights off and on again, the screen will still be bright. Has anyone else encountered this? Is this likely to be an issue with the head unit or the wiring?
