Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

You can try that, a lot of people use that instead of a vacuum filling system.

Suggestion

Without a vacuum filling tool, I would keep adjusting it until it stops moving; but if that does not happen, I would pressure test the system to make sure you do not have an internal leak somewhere.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a MY2006 911 Carrera with 61,000 miles on it. The coolant is some shade of red/orange/pink so I guess that means that at some point it has been flushed with the newer version? (no records on that work) The temperature is always sitting steady at 175, regardless of driving conditions. Here is the issue: The coolant level always sits at about 1 inch below the minimum line of the reservoir. Even after filling it up to between min-max level it will drop to the same level once the engine heats up again. It will never drop below the same 1-inch-below-minimum-level so it is not loosing more than that initial small amount. While the engine is warm when opening the radiator cap, the level slowly rises up to the minimum level. I did put a brand new Porsche reservoir cap on it yesterday since I thought it might not regulate the pressure properly but no change. This does not seem normal although since the level remains constant once it dropped to 1 inch below the mark I assume this is not really critical, right?

POST 2Original post

It sounds as though the coolant level has not reached a "steady state" stage, so it is distributing the new coolant you are adding. Without a vacuum filling tool, I would keep adjusting it until it stops moving; but if that does not happen, I would pressure test the system to make sure you do not have an internal leak somewhere.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks JFP, I'll try that. Is there any use in opening the bleeder valve behind the reservoir (metal clip) to accelerate the process?

You can try that, a lot of people use that instead of a vacuum filling system. Some even jack up the rear of the car before opening the bleeder; me, I like the vacuum system.

POST 5Original post

Mine behaves the same way... let us know if you find anything. Nothing ever came back in my oil analysis to indicate anything amiss. Good Luck.
