Just wondering if it might be worth it to check on the antenna
booster
in my newly purchased 07 CS. Radio reception is downright poor, not coming close to any previous car I have owned. I gather these have an antenna
booster
somewhere, but wondered whether it might just be an endemic condition to the model rather than a real problem.
Welcome! Not long after adopting my '11 model, I had the local dealership check its AM/FM radio reception, or lack thereof. It was declared to be normal.
There is an area of my commute that goes through a little valley. Radio reception drops precipitously.
My 2006
Cayman
, which I have only had for two months, gets worse radio reception there than my 944 and Volvo V70.
All vehicles have their antennas in the windshield or rear window glass.
Power poles aligning the roadway is the worst here in the flat Gulf Coast. The squealing interference is so bad it makes it inaudible. I'm hoping there is a filter that can be added.

Well, that's somewhat depressing. I wonder if it is a receiver quality issue or a problem with the antenna array itself. Would be curious if anyone who has replaced they head unit has seen a difference in reception.
Normal, my
Spyder
has poor reception once in a while.
Has anyone found a solution to this besides drilling a hole in the bodywork and adding a shark find or fixed antenna? Wishful thinking some knowledgeable audio installer could suggest some filter or
booster
? Extra
points
for exact filter name and part number.
Cant recall specifics, but I looked into it early on and just decided to pipe all audio in via smartphone into aux. That was years ago and I've yet to come across a cleaner solution, short of going into audio tweaks. Not my cup of tea when everything I wanna listen to (
Sirius
, Apple Radio/Music, Pandora, iheart, whatever) is so easily accessible via my phone. It's nicely positioned in a ProClip mount and running
Waze
fulltime, music source in the background. So integrated, works perfectly. It's been a painless workaround. A tolerable quirk of a car I love.
Thanks Arch for your reply. I'll check into that.
feeshta, if the windscreen has ever been replaced, its a good idea to check the connector is not loose to the wiring that runs into the a-pillar and of course the wire to the back of the headhunt.
generally though, for a modern car, the reception isn't as good as many other cars but I haven't had any issues with it in my country.
I keep myself occupied with my music collection on my phone/
ipod
(via mini FM transmitter) or just listen to the music from the flat 6!
