Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

So I just bought a 2007 Cayman base model and it has the the Porsche Sound Package Plus with a JVC KW-R910BT. (22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels) I think whoever installed it did it wrong. It is my understanding that the JVC head unit should power the dash speakers, rear speakers and the top door speakers and the amp in the front compartment powers the lower door speakers. Right now only the lower door speakers make sound. No rears at all and pretty sure no top door speakers and can't tell about the dashboard speakers. Plus the speakers sound terrible, not sure if there blown or overdriven or what. So what would the best place to bring this for troubleshooting be? I like the JVC it has good bluetooth, plays usb sticks, phones and has an aux jack. I'm sure a dealer would be pricey but not sure I'd want to bring it to a Best Buy!? Maybe a local auto stereo shop ?

POST 2Original post

So I went to Best Buy and talked to them, they seemed like they knew what they were doing and were willing to work with me. When I was explaining the stock system I went to show the installer the location of the ask amp and it was gone! Turns out it had been removed before I bought the car! So I am hoping that I can use the JVC KW-R910BT to power the rear speakers and whatever speakers I put in the door. Think this would work? What I still don't get is how the stock head unit was able to power the rears, the top door speakers and the dash tweeters in the original system. Are some of the speakers daisy changed like in a powered head on a PA System where can run two mains and two monitors or two mains in Stereo?
