I know lot of you guys have upgraded your sound systems and I was wondering if anyone has a used set of Sound Plus Speakers lying around that they want to sell. I have the base system in my 2007 cayman and I want to upgrade to the Sound Plus package

The Sound Package Plus is more than just some speakers. In addition to having a larger bass speaker in the door, there is also another grille in the door panel for a mid/high-range speaker. And I'm not sure if the doors that came with the standard sound system have all the mountings for these additional speakers.
My Boxster came with the Sound Package Plus and has these additional speakers. (See photo below.)
In addition to the multiple speaker mount points, there is an additional amp in the frunk that powers the woofers in the doors. (This is commonly referred to as the ASK amp.) At some point along the signal path for the front speakers, the signal splits and the amp in the head unit simply powers the smaller door speakers. I suspect that after that split, somewhere behind the dash is a crossover that sends low frequencies to the ASK amp to be amplified and sent to the woofers in the door. The left and right speaker signals along with power come through to the frunk and into the ASK amp that's mounted there. I know this because when I updated my system, I wasn't getting any signal to the woofers and had to disconnect the ASK amp and jump the woofers inputs to the speaker output coming from the ASK.
But the long and short of it is that just having the speakers alone won't upgrade you to Sound Package Plus. You need the ASK amp and the wiring Into the frunk and back to the woofers in the doors that comes with it.

Scott:
Thanks so much for taking the time to educate me. After looking at your pictures I went to my car and I only have one large speaker grill in the door and not two like yours. So, you are probably right my door panels do not even have the mounts for the added speakers that come with the plus package. Thanks for helping me not waste a bunch of money
No problem!
I just went through a lengthy learning process by installing an upgraded radio myself. Mine was an aftermarket Alpine that supports CarPlay for my iPhone and overall, I'm happy, but it was a lot of work. I learned a lot along the way, but the car was in the garage for the winter anyway.
I also installed this rear speaker kit, but I think that's Boxster-only. The Caymans don't have the rear storage shelf to support this, I think.

Sounds like you don't want the sound plus speakers, but if you change your mind PM me. I have a set of 6 sound plus speakers (front doors plus dash) from my 2008 Cayman recently removed because i upgraded the whole system. You can have them for cheap.
I have the Bose system for sale if you are interested.
