I look forward to seeing the pics, just remember maintaining the finish doesn't have to be done with expensive waxes/sealants, I've used zymol vintage, atlantique, zaino, clearkote etc etc and find that collinite 915 marque de elegance, is brilliant, excellent value for money, produces an excellent finish, insane beading and the finish lasts for ages.

If your going to go to 19's then you need to take wheel weight into consideration, had a set of Khan's on mine a few years ago and they ruined the car, way to heavy(approx 20 kilo's a rim at the front!!), looked great but they ruined the drive, felt sloppy, distant and very vague, set i've got on now are much lighter and much better but still they compromise the drive

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys, I'm looking to change the wheels on my 996, but looking for a bit of advice on offsets etc..
The current wheels are shown in the pic below but i have seen lots of the 997 turbo wheels around and really like the look. Now mine are currently 18" but the 997 wheels are 19".
So I really have 2 questions:-
1. If were to look at a standard like for like size replacement what are the current offsets?
2. If i went up a size to 19's are there any major issues i need to consider and what size would be best??
Cheers
Snowman
I moved from 18s to 19 inch RUF wheels and apart from looking much better all that happened was that the ride seriously deteriorated and the car was more prone to tramlining. So I dont think I would recommend it from a driving point of view.
The 996 was never designed for 19s. Indeed the original standard wheels were 17s (the ride on which is by far the best if you can put up with the rather old fashioned looks (which I cant!)
not a good idea
19 are not good for the handleing either, allso turbo wh
eels wont fit wrong offset, i hav 997 replica wheels wich where allready on my car not everybodys cup of tea but actually look ok
Have a look at - 18's OZ Superlagga III on my 996 C4S - they look good and the depth on the dish on the rear makes them stand out - good ride/handling rear = 295/30/18 :thumb:
OEM wheels cast the rim and offset (ET) info either side of the air valve. If yours is a facelift then they should be something like 10" 65 ET on the rear with 285/30/18s and 8" 52 ET on the front with 225/40/18s.
19s don't seem to work on 996s, sidewall is too low profile, stick with 18s. There were some replica 997 18" wheels on Ebay but I have no idea what the quality is like.
Post a pic when you've decided what you're doing!
I've got 19" wheels on my 996, and, other than a hard ride, I've had no problems with them. Of course, I've not driven on 18" wheels (the 19"s came with the car), so it's difficult for me to compare, but I really haven't noticed any problems at all (again, apart from a hard ride).
As said already, the cars are dsigned for 18's max but if you can live with the crashier harsher ride and a touch more tramlining then go for it, and remember we will want pics!! :thumb:
i tried 19's on mine and it ruined the handling , it felt like it was trying to skip around corners not a pleasant feeling at all , stick to 18's mate
Guys, i've got a couple of irons in the fire, so to speak... but from the replies above i think it's best i try and get some decent replicas but in 18"...at least that way the tyre replacement costs will be kept lower...!!!
This way i'm going to ensure the handling is maintained to current standards and my teeth are not going to fall out with the additional 'crashing' of the ride..
Will get the pics up when i get delivery...
On another note, i have now got the car booked into have a full detail by Autodetox. The guy (Barry) did a visit today to talk about options and what i was looking for in terms of finish, so lots of pics will be added... before's and after's.
Autodetox are detailers very local to me here in Lichfield... Be happy to post the results...Booked for the 20th Feb...

I personally think you already have the best looking wheels on your 996 (Carrera IIs).
I think you could improve the look of them by lowering your car a bit on OEM sports suspension or something similar - at least that's the route I'd go.
