I will be needing to replace my existing disks soon and would like to make a modest change, they certainly look the part and may partly eleviate the constant rusting issue a daily part of 996 brake ownership.

Suggestion

Guys, I don't want to go off topic here but I'm thinking of finally replacing my OE discs on my 2003 996 but I'm still not sure which ones are the best to go for in terms of them not bloody rusting - like the OE ones have.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Has anyone any experience of Brembos Gran Tourismo brake disks? They are the two piece after market units that run with existing callipers. I will be needing to replace my existing disks soon and would like to make a modest change, they certainly look the part and may partly eleviate the constant rusting issue a daily part of 996 brake ownership. :worship:

Guys, I don't want to go off topic here but I'm thinking of finally replacing my OE discs on my 2003 996 but I'm still not sure which ones are the best to go for in terms of them not bloody rusting - like the OE ones have. The car only gets occasional use, which doesn't help I know, but surely there's some discs out there that are less likely to rust than others? (Apart from ceramics, of course!)

POST 9Original post

OEM still VFM and there are OEM quality equiv, i.e. made by the same folk but not in a Porsche box for less £ http://911uk.com/template.php?page=82 as for Girodisk, at that prices they may the 6 pot GT3 discs look cheap !

POST 10Original post

Ditto what Sundeep said, can't beat the VFM option. The exact same as Porsche at a fraction of the cost. Still no cure for the rust issue though... :frustrated:

POST 11Original post

Rust on the perimeter edge is inevitable unfortunately..Sebro do at least paint the hub to keep them clean (grey primer colour). www.design911.co.uk do a package which is pretty good value. You could also try eurocarparts.com.
