Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I would like to know what engine bay temp triggers the fan, and is there a two stage thermostat that decides weather to run key on or key off?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Today went out to the car to roll up the windows and after turning the key, I noticed the engine bay fan come on. It was still pretty hot based on the amount of hot air coming out of the fender wells. My question is why did it come on with the key? Shouldn't this fan run when needed with or with out the key on? I would like to know what engine bay temp triggers the fan, and is there a two stage thermostat that decides weather to run key on or key off? Thank you Phillip
