Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking at a 996 shortly. Have some images and the driver-side headlamp cluster looks a bit like this A common minor problem, or a sign of something wrong gentlemen?

POST 2Original post

Is it a condensation problem? I have a '98 996, I know its a different light fitting but I think it's a common problem with current weather conditions. I may stand corrected but think they might have a 'vent' that over time will remove the condensation, it did with mine. HTH, Baz.

POST 3Original post

As said it is the weather that has caused it. Easy to resolve, remove headlight (easy 1 minute job) the remove the Black cap off the rear of the unit as if you are changing the bulb and leave this Black cap off for 2 - 3 days, it will clear itself. While you are there ensure the rubber vent tubes are clear and breathable. This is not a common 996 fault, I have heard it is becoming common on 997? It was certainly a big issue with Honda S2000.

POST 4Original post

On our S2000 the Honda dealer drilled a small hole in each unit. Job done. Before that one side was permanently misted up. Some early Audi A2s also exhibited this, though ours have been OK. 911 seems OK, though it rarely goes out in the wet stuff.
