Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

This guy is an absolute perfectionist (which is why I use his services from time to time in my training business) and wouldn't normally get involved in anything shoddy.

very impressive, would be interesting to know how much less would be required by just using 18's alloys

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A good mate of mine owns a bodyshop and has just helped his brother do this to his 996... He used genuine 997 Gen2 (LED) lamp units and the wings are all made of kevlar reinforced GRP. They also made up new inner wings to accommodate 19" wheels. Don't know how much it all cost (I will ask), but I have to say I was pretty impressed with the quality of the work and reckon you would have to be a bit of an enthusiast to spot the difference at first glance... No affiliation by the way - other than he's a very good friend and work colleague.

POST 2Original post

Lovely motor! Looks like a nice job to my eyes at least

POST 3Original post

I like it lots. Wouldn't be a fan of Trainspotting Begbie by any chance? TB

POST 4Original post

that is amazing. the price (if not mates rates) must come close to that of a gen 1 997 though.

POST 6Original post

Blimey, most impressed - would certainly not have guessed it was a 996 until you looked inside....

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have to say that if I had a bit of a knock or something and needed to replace a wing or two I would try and go down this route, I think... Trying to find out costs as we speak...

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This guy is an absolute perfectionist (which is why I use his services from time to time in my training business) and wouldn't normally get involved in anything shoddy. Even so, I doubted him when he said he was going to have a crack at this conversion... Seems I shouldn't have doubted him, should I? :thumb:

POST 10Original post

Indeed it does :thumb: I would also definitely be interested in costs? :?:

POST 11Original post

very impressive, would be interesting to know how much less would be required by just using 18's alloys

POST 12Original post

aren't 19's part of the 997 "look" tho'? So, one would assume that 996/997 bonnets are the same then? The way it fits seems perfect.

POST 13Original post

You could update your old shape Mecedes SL to the latest shape for about eight grand a few years ago. I'd guess that 996/7 conversion is about that money. I'd rather metal wings though I must say. Having grp at the front is a bit austin sprite, nein? All the same, that cab looks very L.A.

POST 14Original post

looks fab, but every thing i have read says 19" bug ger the ride on 996, 997 is ok?

would it be these chaps per chance Wattie http://www.extreme-sportscars.com/
