They replaced most of the wiring from the head to the amps… As you can see the amps stole the tyre change kit storage area.

BTW, there is the trim unit from Japan you can get that will work and match perfectly, check out some of the installs of the AVIC D3 units that owners have done and used the wiring/faceplate kit from Japan.

1) Could you please tell me how you adjusted your head unit so that it would align with the bezel?

I already have the japanese trim set (I may be selling it if I decide not to go aftermarket) Its about 99% color match, and flawless quality.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Got a new Alpine system and twin Amps going into car this week.
Alpine Electronics of America, Inc. - IVA-W205
Looks factory installed... will show pics if anyone's interested.
Definitely intrigued. Same question as Al Man... are you swapping out the Bose system, assuming you did not already have the NAV option? Also, do you think there will be any impact on the center vents? Pics would be great. Thanks!!!
Nice, I have been planning on doing the same unit, as soon as I get back the bose wiring diagram from a friend of mine (you know, the japanese one)
Keep us posted!
interested in images..
very interested to see images, i have alpine installed in my BMW and Cayenne too and i'm waitin for my Cayman next week so ill definitely be going for Alpine once again..
Had the Bose non nav system before. All had to go except the speakers due to the fibre optic link from the head unit to the amp. I now have one amp driving the bass unit and another driving the Bose speakers. The install company rated the Bose speakers, so no need to change them.
The system is Bluetooth, has a great IPOD interface and can accept Alpines Portable Nav system (I did not get the Nav as I have a TOM TOM).
I am promised a factory look .. Porsche in San Jose recommended them to me. No impact on the air vents
I pick the car up today and will post pics later.
Not sure how it would affect any vents, I already have the doubleDIN bezel, it should be fine.
If possible, could you figure out how they wired the bose speakers to the aftermarket amp? Did it require any resistors, etc, anything unique?
thanks, cant wait to see it! (I have been considering porsche PCM but you may sway me back to alpine) Need to do something soon..I need nav and ipod!
EDIT: The bose sub has its own amplifier right in the subwoofer unit (the one in the passenger compartment) You dont necessarily need to amplify it again.

OK
Well after having it for a day or so I would say it’s a great system with very good DTS sound quality. The Bose speakers work well but if you want mind blowing volume levels then you can easily upgrade the front speakers. The AMPS have tons of power. As it stands today the quality is very very good on both CD/DVD and IPOD. The volume is plenty for me about 40% more the factory unit. The IPOD integration is fabulous all songs are displayed on the unit as if it were the IPOD screen ( this is the real reason I wanted the Alpine). Porsche BTW has no IPOD solution yet!
They replaced most of the wiring from the head to the amps… As you can see the amps stole the tyre change kit storage area. Those parts are now where my CD changer housing is.
The paint match is a little off at the moment... goes back in next week for the correct paint colour.
Very sweet. Regarding the color match issue, I think I can see what you're referring to one of the pics. Could you explain in little more detail? Thanks.

Removing MOST fiber - any error codes/ other impact
Was there any impact to the car diagnostics-wise? Any error codes thrown up once the headunit and amps were removed?
I assume they left all the stock wiring in, just added what was needed for the new headunit and amps and the connections back to the speakers.
Looks great!
BTW, there is the trim unit from Japan you can get that will work and match perfectly, check out some of the installs of the AVIC D3 units that owners have done and used the wiring/faceplate kit from Japan. Seems like the best solution.
Hello!
I just purchased w205 and getting ready to install- PLease help me by answering couple beginner questions i have
1) Could you please tell me how you adjusted your head unit so that it would align with the bezel? with the black metal panel that came with japanese bezel, only one position is available to fit the screws... so lost
2) What is the cleanest way to connect two open copper wires? (e.g. speakers)
Thank you very much for your help in advance
