How much did you pay for a professional ZR3 installation? I am looking at $700... thoughts? (Place installing it seems to do EXEMPLARY work.) Custom brackets, clean installs.
I assume that the $700 includes the unit itself? If not, I think that is WAY too much to pay for just installation. Of course, if there's no one else around to do the work, then you might be stuck paying the high price.
Good luck!

This is for installation only. 1.5 hours for hard wiring 9500i, 9 hours for mounting the ZR3 - front and rear. Custom brakets for mounting the diffusers...
Would love to hear what others have paid.
I had the SRX installed for $300 (and even then I thought it was a bit on the high side but that's the price for a shop I trust and purchasing the unit somewhere else (much cheaper) and having them install it).
I hope this helps. I personally wouldn't pay somebody $700 but that's just me.

Hmm, stil not sure.
I know that I can get it installed for $300. But do I want to pay $700 to have custom brackets made so velcro can be skipped, etc.
I like high quality stuff, and they do high quality. Is this an area that I should skimp on???
I was quoted $600 from squire's in Bellevue, but that was just for the zr3 shifters installation, not the radar unit. Like you I appreciate a quality install and would not feel comfortable having a place like car toys do the install.
Unfortunately that price point has caused me to wait on this, it just seems like a lot of money for a radar/laser system. The complete 9500i system with shifters and install coming to around $1400 after taxes.
I know what you guys mean about quality installation. I'm guessing price of installation may be location dependent. Now I don't feel bad paying so much for installation. The shop that did the work did a great job. Very impressed and apparently many PCA members and dealerships have brought their cars there.
That might be something to look into. Find out where your local PCA members bring their cars. Also find out if the shop installed one in a Cayman before.
Blitzkrieg, if you plan on leaving the radar detector in the car, I'd seriously look into the SRX (or the newer GPS version of it). If I remember correctly, I was quoted ~$650 for the unit (without GPS) a few months ago and with $600 installation, it comes out to be $1200. I'm sure the newer model will be more expensive but worth askng the sponsors on this board.
Good luck!
what is ZR3 installation?!!
Laser "shifters" by Escort which, in basic terms, "scrambles" the laser signal when an officer hits your car with laser.
