Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

The garmin friction mount works so well with a gps it makes me ask is there anything like it with a horizontal platform on which a valentine or other detector could be mounted? I've searched but can't find anything like that.

POST 2Original post

That would be riding a bit low for a radar unit, would it not? In most vehicles, I think you really want a radar unit as high as you can get it. Personally, I have always been happy with the standard windshield mount that comes with the V1. On a semi-related note, I bought my wife a Garmin 200W for Christmas. It is our 1st Nav unit, but the suction cup mount that came with it is the most stout mount of its kind that I have ever seen. Brian

POST 3Original post

I mount mine on the visor and remoted it to the blank $7.00 batwing I roto-zipped for a force fit. Wired to a switched hot under centerstack. I'm trying to find a better mount up high, but not on visor. Wife's X5 has a cheap sticky pad on the dash that hasn't lost it yet. Plan to mount high when I get to know the X5 better.
