I was recovered to OPC Silverstone by a local company when my water pump failed, which was replaced under my 12 month used car warranty, no questions asked.

Actually, if the car is still under new car warranty (as opposed to Approved Used), it would be illegal for Porsche to void the warranty on the rest of the car just because you had fitted a Halfords battery...

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Regards the new car warranty, I don't think Porsche should be considering the battery as a "wear and tear" item (that's obviously the "get out clause" they're using here) and if they have any intention of

Because either the battery should have 24months warranty from new or even as a part, or approved used should have 12 months minimum (after initial 24 months).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The recovery c-o-c-k up is poor. (bloody censor!)
Have I misread your post?
The car is 13 months old from factory and OPC supplied. Your father has owned it for 6 months.
Because either the battery should have 24months warranty from new or even as a part, or approved used should have 12 months minimum (after initial 24 months).
Surely at worst the supplying dealer should stand by this a a goodwill if nothing else. Have you or your father approached them?
Unbelievable!!! makes you wonder why we bother
c: I will not be renewing my warranty thats for sure when it ends next Feb. The AA are a positive steal compared to that service. 400 squid for nothing
Good will should not be even in the equation, they should fix it, no question. Never have I heard....................... and breathe :frustrated:
Thats Shocking I can't believe it took that long to find a outgoing battery ?
As said I would have at least expected a little something IF not a brand new battery for nothing due to the time cicumstances !
AA = WIN.
"it was 13 months old so all in all 4 days later car fixed "
vs 10 mins DIY labour and £90 spent at Halfords
Shambolic service. A battery test should have been done at the breakdown location and a new battery fetched and fitted....usually within 1hr.
c: ....tell you dad to kick-up a stink with Porsche cust services and the dealer principle.....he may get a goodwill gesture(but don't bet on it).
tried
tried kicking up fuss no good, rac man was told under no circumstances to remove battery, and if non porsche battery was fitted warranty would be void
Which OPC were you using...we need to know.
A battery from Halfords of the same size and rating is about £90 with an absolutely no quibble 4 year guarantee. Mine went after 3 years and they replaced it without question.
As 996's seem to eat batteries rather faster than the average car a 4 year warranty works quite well.
Re: tried
Actually, if the car is still under new car warranty (as opposed to Approved Used), it would be illegal for Porsche to void the warranty on the rest of the car just because you had fitted a Halfords battery...
Re: tried
What warranty? TW4TS!
This sounds very fishy. I have just called Porsche Guildford parts dept to confirm, and a new Mo:ll (Porsche Branded) 80 Ah battery is £172 and some pennies.
It is supplied with
TWO YEARS
warranty.
How can a battery supplied with the car from the factory have a warranty period less than both the individual part and the rest of the car?
ok
well no some batterys are one and some are two years warranty been in touch with porsche gb.The plot thickens car returned today they drove it back now covered in ***** 60 miles and charged my fathers card £30 for fuel, absolute disgrace ,my father hit the roof :x
Yes, Porsche Roadside Assist is essentially provided by the RAC on a "special customer" basis. From personal experience, recovery is sometimes farmed out, especially if the RAC are busy, to local companies. I was recovered to OPC Silverstone by a local company when my water pump failed, which was replaced under my 12 month used car warranty, no questions asked.
Regards the new car warranty, I don't think Porsche should be considering the battery as a "wear and tear" item (that's obviously the "get out clause" they're using here) and if they have any intention of
keeping
the OP's father as a Porsche customer, for the insignificant amount a replacement battery costs, they should be swapping it out and
at the very least
Porsche GB should be sending a letter of apology.
Frankly if I'd bought a new Porsche and were treated like this, I'd be writing to both Reading and Stuttgart and my next car would be from another brand.
yep
yes strange how the battery on my 996 lasted 9 years :? got in touch with porsche uk and they got in touch with chester branch and give him a refund of £100 and a free valet wow weee t---ssers
