I was thinking about installing a w205 in place of the crd24 with Bose. With the Ebay bezel kit it says it includes wiring harnesses. I would like power the speakers through the head unit. Anyone else done this using the full Bose system, including the sub? I am aware that the center will be lost. I have installed a few systems in the past but working with all of this intergraded equipment has me concerned.
I have looked through others installs, just haven’t figured out how they went from 4 – 2Ohm, and also wired the sub. For the sub signal, do you just use the standared sub output from the head unit to the subs amp? ( Havent even looked for the sub amp yet).
Thanks for the help!
Take a look at what I did with my AVIC-D3 install. If you plan on doing this yourself, then the ebay bezel will work, but if you are going to use an installer, they should be able to craft one for you to match the color and console, while saving you the $350 hole in your wallet, that thing costs around $20 to make.

I will tell you right now that the amps inside your headunit will suck. They will make your system sound like one that came from a base Toyota Camry. With good volume, you will hear clipping and distortion.
I was using the headunit amps for 2 days before I invested in a $250 Infinity amp. It was well worth the money, which I bought new off ebay for 35% off MSRP.
With this five channel amp, you can split the subwoofer output in two and power both your door subs, the woofers closest to the bottom of the doors. Without the fifth channel, you can kiss them goodbye and your system will lack a lot of bass. You can use resisters to get the impedence to match, but certain high end amps can go as low as 2 ohms and be stable, but some can't.
Boobernackle,
On your install, is it still easy for you to put the CDR-24 back if you ever want to sell the car that way or did you have to do something to make that difficult?
Thanks,
-Larry
I think you should be OK.
Since I figured that modifications to the car are questionable to a prospective buyer down the line, I made sure to tell the installer not to make any crazy mods that could not be removed for this precise reason. Some have suggested to use the faceplate on the CDR-24 and cut it up and use it on the Avic-D3 install, but that was a big NO NO in my book, even if everything remotely fit as thought. They just crafted a faceplate and color matched it to the rest of the dash.
For example, they placed velcro under the amp for grip instead of drilling holes to mount the unit in the front boot. This way, the velcro just clings to the carpet and fits well.
I even to the car to the track with it and the amp was fine and in place.
Ok So I got the bezel from Japan. It was the last one available btw! I am going to replace the door speakers with 3 1/2 that are actually 3 3/16 and the door subs with 6 1/2 shallow mount subs (under 3" depth). The rear loud speakers will be replaced with the same 3 1/2 from the doors. The dash speakers are not going to be used as a tweeter reflecting off the window really disturbs the highs and the center is expendable. I will be using a Kenwood 8120 and an alpine 5 Ch as suggested. The instructions that cam with the bezel and wiring harness are all in Japanese. I understand the adapter for the speakers just plugs right in. But there are also two additional wires (red and Orange) that the show tapping in some where near the master cylinder. I assume they have something to do with power, and dimmer but have no clue because of the "instructions".
Is there a way to power the sub in the passengers foot well or will I loose that? I only want to put in one amp and that is the alpine. So is there a way to tie into the current amp powering that sub with a patch cable or is it optical? I know some members with the Bose system have installed aftermarket head units and amps and retained the majority of the factory speakers. How much of a sound improvement is there with just the upgrade of an amp and receiver?
