We swapped the front drop links left to right, and the rattle changed. So I bought some new drop links off eBay for less than a 1/3 of the dealer price, had them fitted this morning and it's all good now.

Okay I've done about 2,500km in my Turbo now and as one does you get use to noises that are nomal and ones that aren't. The car is amazingly rattle free except for one annoying little rattle off the front right hand suspension which you can also feel ever so slightly through the steering wheel. The sound on first thought is very similar to that of a previous 996 C2 we had where the front stablizers needed replacing. I have had the suspension checked and everything seems tight with no obvious rattles, but I'm also aware from previous it can often be impossible to identify if a part has an issue until it is properly under load. My question is does anybody know if the front stablizers are interchangable between the left and right. If they are I thought I might swap them to see if the rattle follows the stablizer? Like all these things I don't mind getting them fixed but based on a bad previous experiance where I once spent about $2k trying to fix a suspension rattle on a Merc, only to find out eventually the issue related to the shocks simply needing to be bled which cost about $50, I'd prefer to be sure any resolution will fix the problem first go. Hi, Yes you can swop them... try the drop link arms and the lower suspension arms that look like a tuning fork on one end. Mike
