Of course, you have checked all vital fluid levels and found none low or dropping from check to check?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey Guys
i have a 03 C4S,my front wheels seemed a little more dirty and black than normal, went to go clean them and see wet black oil inside both wheels, seems funny its on both wheels, can it be something happen to both at the same time, any ideas?
Thanks
Albert
Are you sure it is oil, or is it grease? Check the CV boots. I had this problem on the right rear on my '04 C2. The CV boot had cracked and was throwing grease out to the wheel.
Highly unlikely to be oil from your car. If it was and a pipe was leaking you would see it where you parked the car or in the dashboard.
Did you touched the brakes recently?
Maybe brake fluid is more like it. But thats remote too.
Sure you didnt hit anything in the road. Or washed the car and they putted something in the wheels.
In any case it wouldnt be hard to find such a big leak.
John
just went to check and the inside of the wheels are dry,all i did is wash the wheels and rinsed them a hour ago,i guess i will see if it does it again after some driving,,Thanks Guys
on my 86' I had a weeping brake bleeder and drove it a couple weeks to work while trying to figure it out
Never caused any real fluid loss and the brakes held fine... then I replaced the bleeder all together (with re-bleed naturally) and all is well again... but the tire inside was definently greasy looking
the only reason I guessed brakes over CV was both sides at the same time.... either is still the main suspect
One common failure point I know of that can deliver oil to the front wheels is a power steering problem, a leak, and the fluid follows the hardware that ultimately connects the steering rack with the two front wheels. It doesn't take much fluid when warm and with the wheels spinning to spread this out.
Another common failure point is a coolant leak or possibly an A/C condensor leak. Again the fluid can make its way down and the over to the wheels, but only after the car has stopped.
Yet another is the headlight washer fluid lines.
During driving the air flow will likely carry the fluid back. After stopping the fluid could then follow gravity and end up on the wheels.
I've seen one newer Porche with a power steering fluid leak and the under body panels from the front of the car just behind the front bumper cover's edge back had an oil stain that was rather large (there should be no oil stain at all though so any stain is worth sorting out) and that extended back to nearly where the panels ended.
Check the fluid. If water soluble brake fluid or possibly coolant. If oil (or grease) you'll know it. Best too is to just get the car safely in the air and get underneath and look for any fluid stain. Even if you don't see one chances are the front bumper cover and the underbody panels will have to come up to give you and tech a good view of the various lines that carry fluids and from which a leak might arise, or the lines that might carry the fluid from a leak higher up or further forward.
Of course, you have checked all vital fluid levels and found none low or dropping from check to check?
Sincerely,
Macster.
