quarter/ half a tank of 95, enough to get you to another filling station then fill up with 98/99 Ron
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Guys...
It's been a really nice 3 days of ownership of my new toy but it has thrown up a couple of simple questions...
Is it me or are the wipers really small...?? (have measured 18")
What happens if i cant find a petrol station with 98Ron, is 95Ron ok?
Should the car have a locking petrol cap??
How many miles am i going to expect to a full tank of fuel, driving conservativley of course..!!
No doubt i'll have lots more questions...
Cheers
should have added its a C4 cab 2003
Welcome...
I hope your experiance will be as much fun as mine over these past 5 years of Porsche ownership...
Is it me or are the wipers really small...?? (have measured 18")....
I have never ever even considered this... I might start worrying now
What happens if i cant find a petrol station with 98Ron, is 95Ron ok?...
Check your owners manual but I believe it should be okay... any concerns check with your local dealer... I've found that my Porsches have always run better on 98.
Should the car have a locking petrol cap??...
I think you'll find if you lock your car the petrol cap locks... why not try it and see...
How many miles am i going to expect to a full tank of fuel, driving conservativley of course..!!
... Thats a very subjective question but I would expect around 360-400km of around town driving before a refill (but thats with my Turbo)... I would think it would be similar or a bit better for your C4, with increased economy on a run. Have fun and you'll see the petrol needle very quickly disappear south
Hope this is of some assitance... if I've made any booboos or anyone else has some thoughts please chime in...

hi congrats I too am a newbie the day the snows came down.So ive only had a few days driving(2003 c2 manual)One of the first thingsI noticed were the small wipers but they still work well in heavy rain-the windscreen is not steeply raked (basic design over 40 years old)I wondered about a locking petrol cap too,but I think it self locks when the car is locked-must read the instructions!Something self adjusts if you put 95oct petrol in so it must be ok in an emergency. When I fill up it tells me over 300 miles range. What I havent sussed out is the sat nav--oh for a teenager!
Hi, where are the pics!!
Is it me or are the wipers really small...?? (have measured 18")...yes they are too small
What happens if i cant find a petrol station with 98Ron, is 95Ron ok?...
Yes, the car will adjust for the grade of fuel. If you get stuck only put in
quarter/ half a tank of 95, enough to get you to another filling station then fill up with 98/99 Ron
Because yours is a C4 the petrol gauge may not show an increase if
you only put a small top up of fuel in after low fuel, just the way it works.
Should the car have a locking petrol cap?? ... the outer cover should lock when you lock the car,
if it doesn't there is a small pin which may have broken or come loose.
How many miles am i going to expect to a full tank of fuel, driving conservativley of course..!!
..... I average about 22 mpg with a combination of town & motorway driving. Gives me approx 300 miles,
Enjoy your new car

Guys thanks for the quick replies...
TB will get some decent pics this weekend... Have already posted the ones taken before the purchase, but they really dont do justice...
Will check the petrol cap thingy in the morning before getting in...! Guessing i'm going to be filling up at the local shell station with 98/99Ron on the way home tomorrow. I'm heading up to manchester for 3 days of work, so will be good to see how mpg goes with a good run.
Already ordered some new wiper blades, current ones are past it.
Loving the Bose sound, but the PCM2 is a little dated... The unit has the hand set for the phone...mmm!! a bit 1980ish..!
Gonna plan to have AutoDetox come round to prep the paintwork and get it back to showroom condition, just some swirls and i really dont have the expertise to get rid of...
What colour is that, the first picture looks almost brown? Is it a special order colour, or is just the reflections from the snow. It looks nice anyhow with that interior.
The computer says I have averaged 26.0mpg having done 4000 miles since September without resetting the trip. That is mainly motorway miles and sitting in traffic jams for at least an hour a day!
Must be the reflection from the snow, it's Basalt Black with grey leather interior.
Will do my best to get some decent pics this weekend after another clean and polish...!!!
(and i need to fit the new K&N filter.....ha ha ha)!!
Is it me or are the wipers really small...?? (have measured 18")
My car is a targa and the wipers are 22". The passenger one is curved, the driver one straight, with a spoiler. Could the cabrio windscreen be a different size??
How many miles am i going to expect to a full tank of fuel, driving conservativley of course..!!
I get about 27mpg average, 30 on a long (sensible-ish) motorway run. Rather less if I have too much fun.
Enjoy
Lovely car and welcome to the forum, on the issue of the swirls, the only way to get rid of the swirls fully is to polish them out with a machine polisher, my advise would be to get the paint corrected by a detailer and then maintain the finish, I believe elite detailing are sponsors of this forum, if they're not suitable distance wise, have a look on detailingworld.co.uk for one that is.
Gary
Make sure you get some before, during and after pics. Also I would suggest you have a good read on detailing world or the detailing forum on here for advice on how to clean the car and maintain the finish, autodetox should also be able to advice you.
