Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Don't know if your car (or alarm) needs a 'reset', but it could well be the battery is dead.
Leading evidence: 'Reset '' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Reset '' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

- or could the tracker battery also have run flat and that system be preventing the car starting?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi, during the snow and cold I didn't use the car at all consequently when I did come to use it last week the battery was flat.
Its been on battery conditioner for a week and have just now put it back in the car and tried to start it - the conditioner shows the battery as being strong.
When I turn the ignition key I get lots of whirring and clicking but its not making any attempt to crank the engine.

Perhaps the battery is just past it? - but like I say the conditioner says its strong and clicking and whirring are strong no hesitation if you know what I mean it seems there maybe something else preventing it from cranking.
I just dont want to fork out for a new Varta or Bosch and find that its not the problem!

This may give you a clue - switch as many electrics on as well as the full beam. Try to start the car. Do the lights go dim?
BTW I'd consider the Halfords Calcium battery as a replacement. I've had recent Bosch Silver and Varta Bluetop on other cars, and they haven't lasted that well. Halfords Calcium has a four year no quibble warranty; so you know it (and any replacements) are going to last at least five years?
Usually the clicking is the starter relays which you'll only really hear if there's not enough current to crank the engine.
Chargers and conditioners are not the same thing, so, assuming the battery is ok which it probably is, I'd suggest you get a charger or give the car a jump so it can charge the battery directly.
Once you've got it going again your conditioner will keep it that way for you :thumb:
If you can hear clicking, then the immobiliser will not have cut in. If it had, nothing would happen when you tried to crank the engine as it inhibits the starter motor circuit.
I don't think a tracker would be connected to the immobiliser.
Can you check the battery voltage, and perhaps the specific gravity of the acid (if you have a tester). Check that one of the cells isn't dry too.
