If your goal is simply to have the system permanently in loud mode, then why not just disconnect the vacuum lines from the exhaust solenoid valves under the car?

Suggestion

If your goal is to defeat the ECU’s control of the system, then do a search for PSE Retrofit Success and you can see how I made it work using the factory button without any connection to the ECU.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Hi all, I am planning to use a male and female JT connector, some cable and a switch to make a PSE disable switch. Essentially switching the ground to the PSE vacuum switch. I'd like to feed a cable through somewhere — or mount the switch inside the storage cubby holes either side of the engine. Ideally, I'd prefer not to be drilling any holes in anything or pulling up masses of carpet etc Has anyone got any good ideas? James

POST 2Original post

If your goal is simply to have the system permanently in loud mode, then why not just disconnect the vacuum lines from the exhaust solenoid valves under the car? Will be much less work. If your goal is to defeat the ECU’s control of the system, then do a search for PSE Retrofit Success and you can see how I made it work using the factory button without any connection to the ECU.

POST 3Original post

Hi, Thanks for your reply. My car is a 987.2 - and as far as I know doesn’t have a rear fuse box. Not sure your brilliant solution is any easier than mine or simply making a remote disconnection switch? I’m not sure I want to be running new wires and gaining access to the PSE button. James
