Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I know people have done this but multiple searches did not yield what I'm looking for. I'm attempting to replace the steering wheel module (997.613.289.01 is the new part number) with an upgraded module to install a paddle shift steering wheel and enable the horn and paddles on a gen 1 cayman , tiptronic. I'm to the point where I've removed everything but I can not figure out how the original control assembly comes apart to swap the module. Please, anyone that has done this, I need help. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

DISREGARD! I figured it out. If anyone ever needs help with this, let me know.

POST 3Original post

I'd be curious to know, did you have to remove the face/trim portion off the paddle wheel similar to what's described in the following link? http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/productdocs/ap-porschepdk2-install.pdf

POST 4Original post

No, I'm not sure what module that is referring to. The one I had to replace is part of the steering column switches assembly. It is very simple to do once you know what to remove to unscrew it from the assembly. It swapped right out and after installed, the horn now works and I have no warning lights. The paddles will have to be programmed by a Porsche dealer to activate them. Looks and feel are greatly improved!

POST 5Original post

Nice that looks great, very cool that the paddle steering wheel can be made to work with tiptronic

POST 6Original post

Can you give an indication: where did you source the wheel? how much did the whole thing cost (part + labor assembly)

POST 7Original post

You might find Sprint Booster a real treat for shifting into 1st gear with the Tiptronic transmission at stop lights and better throttle modulation.
