Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Its only the front 'lip' of the nut that gets a very thin coating of rust on mine (just like the very thin coating of rust on brake discs when the car hasn't been used for a few days) .

I've used a small piece of wet and dry paper to take the surface rust off.

Suggestion
You could coat the ends with lacquer I guess but it only takes a few seconds to clean each nut so I'm sticking with the wet and dry :thumb:

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Don't be tempted to speed up the process using a wire wheel without
being extremely careful as the bushes [seats] are very soft and a little
slip will take them apart. As I have black wheels my wheel nuts are
painted and I keep a spare set which I swap over every 6 months.

Its only the front 'lip' of the nut that gets a very thin coating of rust on mine (just like the very thin coating of rust on brake discs when the car hasn't been used for a few days) . A very light rub with wet and dry, taking care not to touch the wheel is all that mine need.
Hi,
Dont be tempted to have them anidised because when they are dipped in acid before being coated it will eat into the aluminum spacer  now i have stainless steel ones which look the dogs nuts 8) and no rust problems (you can buy them from a shop on this site).
DesignTek Stainless bolts and locking bolts. Easy to keep clean and no rust!
Very pleased with them, just remember to take the o-rings off holding the spacers on before fitting! Centre caps have since been replaced, gone all fuzzy in the lacquer
