Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Does anyone know how the threaded holes molded into the grill help retain it (with screws) in a GT3? Is there a bracket(s) that need to be ordered with the grill? I'm not wild about relying primarily on glue. I'll make my own bracket if I need to.

POST 2Original post

someone did it before, check this thread http://www.planet-9.com/showthread.php?t=10146&highlight=gt3

POST 3Original post

Thanks. I was part of that thread, and see where 'plastic clips' are mentioned as a back up to a bunch of glue, but it's not clear that those plastic clips are used by the gt3 or what part number they are, or what they really amount to. I've also looked at the exploded view in the parts manual of a gt3 bumper and the screws are shown, but not any bracket- and a bracket would be necesssary for the screws to do any good as far as I can tell.

POST 4Original post

you'll probably have to fabricate some of your own DIY stuff to mount it, it'd probably be the easiest and best way

POST 5Original post

I also wondered if the screws/holes are to mount some ducting to the vent rather than hold the vent on the bumper, but that isn't indicated in the parts view either.

POST 6Original post

We used pieces of aluminium as retainers and screwed them to the holes in the grill. No glue or epoxy, just the clips we made. It worked well. Stan

POST 7Original post

Would these speed clips work? http://www.sjgreatdeals.com/atsat5112.html

POST 8Original post

Thanks Stan. Did you bend flat aluminum strips into "Z" shapes? That's what I'm thinking of. Can you sketch it for me? Miami: thanks also, but those wouldn't work in this case- Bill

POST 9Original post

Bill, can you also let the thread know as and when. I've just got another bumper and have ordered the grill to go with it....so time to sharpen my dremel...!!!

POST 10Original post

I used regular cable straps... you can get them from Home Depot or Lowes. Take off the nails and you have to really squeeze them in. The space is perfect, nake sure you put alot of the epoxy around it. This is what made the grill lip flat on the bumper. otherwise there will be gaps and it wont meet the bumper flush Trust me it really works, ive gone 120mph since and it hasnt came off yet. I can even pull on the grill to try to pull it off and it wont come off.
