Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I don't really understand what's happening with the bonnet that appears to be a different colour than the rest. Price lower than I would expect from a dealer for age / mileage. Any helpful comments welcomed. http://911uk.com/template.php?page=28

POST 2Original post

Car looks good with kit & black wheels etc but it looks like to bonnet, roof & bootlid have been painted black to match the wheels - Not my cuppa if I'm being honest. :dont know: How much to spray back seal grey? :?:

POST 3Original post

Could be a carbonfibre bonnet & boot but as it is not mentioned as a selling point, I think it is more likely a vinyl wrap :dont know: TB

POST 4Original post

Looks potentially a good buy for someone. Would obviously need a good check over and hsitory check... Rear plate looks a bi t haggered though, would have replaced that for the advert. :dont know:

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the input so far. Agree about the rear plate, makes it look as if it wasn't a really loved car. And wtf does it stand for? THUGS?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hmmmm. You know when things don't feel that good? Rang the first number on Pistonheads (mobile) guy hadn't a clue if it was 2WD or 4WD - gave me another number also mobile to ring. Spoke to the second bloke. "It's my brother's car. I think its 4WD. I can check and ring you back". Asked about the black panels "Not to my taste either. We are a customising shop and did it for him. We can put it back if you like" :chin:

POST 7Original post

Now stripes aren't my cup of tea, but I can see how painting the bonnet, roof and engine lid may work. But not in this case. I think ,firstly, the colour should be a complete contrast (the black and grey look too similar, in fact in some images with reflections etc you have to look hard to see which panel is which), secondly, what's the deal with the spoiler itself being "non-stripe" colour? Surely that should match the stripe (and so should a section of PU front and rear), or else it makes no sense. I am, however, intrigued by the "rear electric windows".

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The next guy has come back to me. 2WD, that's what I am after. 2 Services by an OPC and then servicing by 'Vision Performance' No objection to a PPI (But then they have to say that don't they? Not sure what my next move is.

POST 11Original post

I would ask them to fax or scan you copies of the service book to start with. And ask about the black panels, is it paint or a wrap? Then HPI etc etc To be honest it looks a confused car, the black half works but isnt really a stripe and the MK11 GT3 kit is nice but doesnt match the MK1 wheels Could be a decent buy if it stacks up and its what youre after

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ah.. good tip (Re: Service book) The panels are definitely paint, but they are offering to rectify this. I'm in two minds about the lack of purity of the car, it is deeply confused as you so aptly put it. On the other hand the wheels are really stylish. Personally hate the spoiler, but that's just a 'me' thing

POST 13Original post

There are LOADS of decent cars out there for sale and if you like black wheels then when you find the right car, just get them sprayed! I don't think this one looks quite right personally. Its a shame this one has been bastardised. Keep it classic with some nice wheels and you can't go wrong! :thumb:

POST 14Original post

Hence my comments re: [striped] bonnet, roof and engine lid

POST 15Original post

How did I manage to misread that? :dont know: edit: spelling corrected
