Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hi there I have the "screeching noise during engine warm-up" issue on my 06 Boxster S. There are reports of some users here who had the so called "control piston" of the oil pump replaced by the dealership, but the noise came back. Question for you guys. If I just leave this issue alone (noise will disapear after 5mins of driving anyway), will there be any negative side effects or harm for the engine? Thanks and rgds, Stefan

POST 2Original post

Take it to your dealer. There is an update to a pressure relief valve that will solve this.

POST 3Original post

I had that problem in my old 05 Boxster. They did the piston release mod and te noise while still there was 95% quieter! My Cayman does not have this issue at all. Also my Boxster's engine blower would come on quite a bit. I never had it come on in my Cayman yet (over a yaer old.)
