Suggestion
Accident and respray would be a good thing to check, but depending on where the respray is, could just be door dings, so have them check paint thickness is there was a respray.

The difference is they must do a service to the car and update wear items that are needed in order for the car to be certified - this can change the final price.

i have bought a few used porsches in the past from used car dealers and always did a ppi but if i was who do i take it to for a ppi themselves.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

i am looking to buy from a porsche dealer, do i need to do a ppi if is from a porsche dealer. i have bought a few used porsches in the past from used car dealers and always did a ppi but if i was who do i take it to for a ppi themselves. If i ask if the car was in a accident will the dealer tell me.
that is a real good question. i can just give you my opinion. if the car has a warranty, and you know the dealer, you could probably feel comfortable buying the car. otherwise, it would make sense to take the car to another dealer for an inspection.
Or offer that your purchase will be contingent on the car "passing" a PPI. If you like the dealer, I wouldn't mind having them do the PPI, afterall who better to work with later on if something that should have been caught during a PPI goes wrong. But please, make sure its done somewhere.
what do you think of having them do a ppi? I feel bad about taking the car from one authorized porsche dealer to the other for a ppi. They are the largest major dealer in the area, is there a conflict of intrest to let them do a ppi?
I agree with BSC, haev them do it, so if there is something that comes up later on, THEY are the ones that should have caught it, THEY did the PPI. For $200 its piece of mind.
One other thing, have them certify the car if it is not already. That way you have 2 more years and up to 100k of warr coverage. May cost a bit more but worth it...

but i will drive the car 2k miles a year so i took the savings. So now do i need a ppi? with the warrenty i would leave the ppi.
Either way the ppi should be a few hundred, worth it to know the history of the car. The dealer maybe reputable, but that doesn't mean they know everything about the car. It should show things like overrevs, which otherwise the dealer has no way of knowing. But if there some catastrphic engine failure (hey it happens), they will look for overrevs, and they won't car who did them, and that may void factory warr coverage.
Even if the car is only used on Sundays to go to church and back, once you pass 4 yrs, if your RMS goes, get ready to fork over some major cash. This will give you 2 more years of coverage.
The retail price on the Porshe Certified warranty in $1500-1600 so the $2000 number is high. Even if I only drove 2000 miles a year I would get it for the peace of mind. I would also push for a discount since they make a profit when they sell the warranty.

They plug into the car's computer, and they can get a readout of how many times the car has hit the rev limiter (not damaging at all) versus how many times the car has been overreved by down shifting, etc (not good the car). Accident and respray would be a good thing to check, but depending on where the respray is, could just be door dings, so have them check paint thickness is there was a respray. Do you know if the car has had a RMS leak, or tranny problems? If so, either engine or tranny may have been replaced entirely...
The PPI is a pretty standard thing...all this should be included in it.
Here is my list of questions for ppi:
Accidents?
RMS Done?
Repaint?
Service History?
Coolant Expansion Tank Problem Done?
Interior Rattles?
Rev Limiter?
Please let me know what else i should have them look at?
The dealer says the warrenty is 2500 cad or 1900 usd what ever the nogotiated price of the car is. So if you want it is 1900. Does he still have mark up on this he says thats what porsche charges him.
I just paid $1595 for the warranty in the US and my dealer told me this was the US list price. I would have to believe this is the case since he sold it to me after the purchase of the car was complete so there was not room to absorb it in the price of the car.
I know you already have it on the list, but I'd make a special point to have them talk to you about the "health" of your RMS (good or bad) given the potential for problems.
I asked the sales manager for a ppi and he looked ar me like why..... he says the car has been fully checked. He says the car has been fully looked at and is fine, shoud i request a full ppi report.... is there a standard ppi report...... i am confused.
Again this is a porsche dealer.
If Porsche certifies the car it goes through an extremely extensive checklist that is probably more comprehensive than a standard PPI.
If I were you, I would pay the money for the Certified warranty. I would never want to own a 996 without a factory warranty.

You do not state the model or the miles - the cost from porsche to the dealer is around 1600.00 USD -- Same price for a C2 or a TT (this I found to be strange).
The difference is they must do a service to the car and update wear items that are needed in order for the car to be certified - this can change the final price.
Now if I was getting a car with 15k miles say - I would want to have anythng that was due soon to be done before I took delivery. I think that any way you cut it the Warr is cheap -- My car had less than 3k on it but they still did a service on it -- fluids/ filters /wipers. But the two additional years -- backed by porsche is the only reason I bought the car.
