Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

The rear window defogger doesn't work. The Relay clicks, the fuse is OK and the switch lights up but there isn't power at the window connectors. Is there any known weak points in the wiring? Especially being a rag top? Where should I start looking for the wiring problem?

POST 2Original post

So nobody had to fix their boxster rear window heater?

POST 3Original post

I've never used mine. 39k miles on my 981 and the roof is only up when parked.

POST 4Original post

I don't have a Boxster but I will say this. Just because the relay clicks doesn't mean the contacts are transferring power. If it was me I would try to remove the relay and power its coil from an external source and when it clicks measure the contact resistance with a meter. Also you might try referring to the "Wiring Harnesses and Routing" PDF file and do a search on Rear Window Heater. On page 24 it shows the connector is item 53 on figure 18. Figure 18 is on page 23.

POST 5Original post

I presume the wire harness is a mirror of the diagram for RHD. I'll get the relay out and check that first. Cheers

POST 6Original post

Thought it was easiest to check the connector first as it was in plain sight! Behind the left seat next to the rear shelf. There were 2 two pin connectors but only one plug. The plug was in the socket that only had 1 wire coming from it so I swapped them over! Hey Presto! Heater now working.
