Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Brought the car in for the dealer to see why the front end feels kinda squirmy/suirrelly over rough pavement. (I just changed wheels from 18" turbos with snow tires to 18" carreras with Pirellis. No squirm with winter setup) Told them to check the alignment (as per suggestions of board members). They told me if they have to align all wheels it will cost $450. Is it me, or is that INSANE!?!? Anyone in NYC area know of a dealership that has normal prices? I took it to South Shore Porsche on L.I., since its near my parents house.

POST 3Original post

what's the deal with NYC dealers...? Should be under $200 IMO

POST 4Original post

01 C4 CAB NYC. I was beginning to think I was the only one who pays too much. I had four tires (I purchased from Tire Rack) mounted, balanced and a four wheel alignment for $250.00. In NC for comparison.

POST 5Original post

that's WAY too much for an alignment. it should definitely be under $200!

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ARGH!!! They aren't doing SQUAT with mounting or balancing! The tires are on the rims, and they are balanced and on the car... Bastids... I told them to call me before they do anything. So if it needs an alignment I'll see if they'll come down in price...

POST 7Original post

01 C4 Cab NYC - you may want to check out Paul Miller Porsche @ Parsippany NJ - there service is very good, the only negative is they don't offer a loaner if you did not buy the car from them - but as far as their service fees there not a rip off.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

RJ, thanks for the scoop. I'll give them a try.

POST 9Original post

My dealer charges $225 (minus 10% PCA discount), so right at $200.

POST 10Original post

Bastids is right!! We pay approximately $250 ($125 front/back) That is insanely expensive...I guess it goes to pay for their crack habit...geez!

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

LOL...nice one Robyn. I called another dealer 8 miles from them, they want $260. Can you guess would will NOT be doing my alignment?

POST 12Original post

For $450 they should be corner balancing and do the kinematic adjustment.

POST 13Original post

$136 with coupon from Porsche Talk at Langan in Albany Alan

POST 14Original post

Try www.eurotire.com in Fairfield, NJ, about a half hour west of Manhattan on Rte 46E. They know Porsches, and do corner balancing too.
