Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Reported fix
Dealer changed 2 front shock absorbers. Problem fixed.
Leading evidence: 'Replace 2 front shock absorbers' (1 discussions report resolution; 0 report an unsuccessful attempt). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'be' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace 2 front shock absorbers' (1 discussions). For that action, 1 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. The most frequently reported fix is 'Replace 2 front shock absorbers', supported by resolution reports in 1 discussions. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Just an item I'll have checked any time front end work is merited.

I have taken it to the dealer who changed (at great expense to me) the sway bar links and the track control arms claiming that they were worn and the likely source of the noise. Since the noise is not predictable and easily repeatable, at first I thought the problem was solved.
Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a 2009
Cayman S
w/out
PASM
that I track about 10 times a year and use as my daily driver.
There is a weird clunk in the front suspension when driving at low speeds over bumps. It feels as if there is something loose, yet when put on the lift we don't see anything. The dealer changed the 2 front shocks but to no avail. It's gotten way worse since I put on Yoko AD08 and I assume it's because of the stiffer sidewalls. (Before that I thought I heard clunking, now with the new
tires
I know I heard it!). I made sure my trunk was empty, even removed the tool kit but no luck.
Has anyone else ever experienced this? Car handles just fine on and off the track.
I also have the same problem on my 2005
Boxster
and it is exasperating. I have taken it to the dealer who changed (at great expense to me) the sway bar links and the track control arms claiming that they were worn and the likely source of the noise. Since the noise is not predictable and easily repeatable, at first I thought the problem was solved. But the sounds came back after an hour of driving. It sounds like an unloaded component that is free to move and is rattling as the car vibrates. However, the handling is unaffected and the car feels great at high speeds. I do not know what to do.
Ill share my stupid experience.. I was hearing something like this from the front end of my car.. I was pretty worried especially because I still had approximately 50 somewhat miles to get home and my wife was with me.. I couldn't figure out the noise.. Every time I accelerated I heard it and every time I turned I heard. So I made it home with no problems and was ready to make an appointment with the shop. I looked inside the wheels wells and under the car. Everything appeared normal. When I opened the front trunk, there it was..3 soda cans!! lol Yup thats all it turned out to be.. wasn't anything else.
Thank God I did not bring it to the shop.. Could you imagine what they would've said to me! lol
I had problems like that with my CS and I took off my front wheels to check all the nuts and bolts. Came out to be the drop links that came slightly loose. Tightened those bad boys up and noise was gone so you might want to give that a try.
I have Rennline camber plates, could they be the culprit? Will check tomorrow if the center nut is well tightened but since they replaced my front shocks I should assume they tightened things right...
I just had mine in for an annual routine service inspection I do with all my cars. I mentioned the low speed clunk when slightly turning the wheel left or right (not the full lock clunk you read about). They reviewed it all, and checked everything out as OK. I've got it on record as a concern, and don't really worry too much. Just an item I'll have checked any time front end work is merited.
One item I've heard from others was to have the strut tower bearing or the springs checked. In my case they were all ok. But you could keep those two in mind if you have it in for service.
You can get the clunking sound with coilovers due to coil bind. If you can get some lube in on your coil perches (top and bottom) it might be the effort. Just throwing that out there.
Thanks! Looking for all possibilities here as I will slowly try everything myself. Hoping to find the culprit and report back. Last couple times I drove the car the temp was quite a bit cooler and it's causing the slight clunk to be more apparent. (even with the radio up I can ever so slightly feel it in the gas/brake pedal and steering)
I purchased a CPO 08
Cayman
back in May. Almost immediately the car started to make a strange noise that seemed to come from the front end. I took it into the dealer and they finally diagnosed the problem as a leak in the steering rack. They replaced it and problem was solved. I was sure glad that the car was under warranty. Hope you get the problem resolved.
