Just traded in my 09 CS for the new 991 3.4. The new car is a little faster, a little bigger, but it feels just as light and nimble. Grip coming out of the corners is much better in the
Carrera
. Yet, turn in feels equally as compliant. Can't believe how much more grip you get with the
Carrera
. I also like the power and torque delivery in the
Carrera
vs.
Cayman S
. I suggest to anyone considering a 987
Cayman S
drive a new base
Carrera
back to back and decide for yourself. In my opinion the 991 is far superior to 987
Cayman S
and
981 Boxster
S in every category except price. The
Carrera
was $77k while the new
981
S I test drove was only $65k. $12k buys a lot of
tires
and fun racing bits, so price considerations will sway some people to the 987S.
Lastly, the interior of the new cars is a gigantic step forward. I never thought my 987
Cayman S
interior was all that nice. The interior styling in the 991 is simply awesome! That said the 987 S interior was also nice but a bit cramped for my taste. Bottom line the new
Porsche
sports car line up are winners!

Cayman
.
77k for 991??? Wow. Mine was 94k and it wasnt fully loaded. How did u get a deal so low? Never saw a price that low
2013 Carrera 3.4 77K
I had the same question on the pricing of the new 911 at $77.
I'm assuming there is a lot of room in pricing for left-over 2012s at dealers. Plus, they are starting to show up on the second hand market with significant discounts. Any information would be appreciated. I'm trying to figure out what Porsche to get next after my 987.2 and a base 991 is very tempting...
I decided I wanted another convertible so I test drove the new 991 with 7 speed manual and the 981 with 6 sp manual. I bought the 981. It looks and drives better than the 991. Not as fast but I'm not buying it for that reason.

What color this time ? so I can keep an eye out for you @ Tobay in March.

Porsche
less for 10 months but surviving.
Actually a 991 convertible and 981S would be just about equal in performance. The 991 does have a higher top speed, but other than that the driver will make the differance on the track.
Re: 2013 Carrera 3.4 77K
I'm also wondering about that price. I'm looking and think I will go with the 981 Cayman S (my Cayman was by far my favorite vehicle, and although I like the 997S, it is vastly more fun as a daily driver to pilot a mid-engine Porsche) but I'd like to have the option.
Re: 2013 Carrera 3.4 77K
I would assume that price is on a leftover '12. Great deals to be had that way.
I love my my 991S a lot. Do I love it more than my base 987
Cayman
. That's hard to say. I felt a little more connected to the road steering the
Cayman
, but there is no question that I prefer the rest of the feel of driving the PDCC 991S. It's faster, stays flatter in the corners, and give me a lot more confidence at high speed.
I obviously prefer the 991, but I can certainly see why some people might prefer the
981
. One thing I hear a lot is
981
/987 owners complaining the 991 is too big. I don't think these people have been in the competition. The Corvette, GT-R,
M3
, and R8 feel like boats.
