I understand those latches on the b-pillar can be replaced with those which have rubber around them so might sort them out too !

When I used a screwdriver to fool the door into thinking it was locked (by flicking the latch back) and then tried the handle I saw no movement in the mechanism which would suggest trying the handle when locked should cause a problem.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • 911uk: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

I looked at the lock mechanism (without taking anything apart), sprayed some wd40 and it made no difference.

No unique explicit quoted action; no causal link assigned

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi chaps, Got this annoying issue with my car which I want to sort out. Basically if my car is locked and anyone tries the handle (either side), the next time I unlock the car (be it fob or key) that door will not open - the window will drop and the interior door light comes on but that's it. I then have to physically push the offending door back towards the the car body (near the lock area) and I can hear the lock relatch and then the door will open fine. Tried it about 10 times on either door and the pattern repeats itself. I looked at the lock mechanism (without taking anything apart), sprayed some wd40 and it made no difference. When I used a screwdriver to fool the door into thinking it was locked (by flicking the latch back) and then tried the handle I saw no movement in the mechanism which would suggest trying the handle when locked should cause a problem. The doors will operate 100% fine if no one tries the handle when locked. Read about cables and connector rods - could it be that or is this an alarm issue (no beeps when I lock) ? Cheers

POST 2Original post

You need an M8 spline drive tool. On the B-pillar, the door latches catch onto to Chrome coloured loops bolted to the B-pillar with two spline bolts. Slacken the bolts off and move the link outwards by 1mm (try not to go up or down as this will alter door height settings) Your problem will be solved :thumb: Now stop slamming your doors so hard!

Thanks Lloyd  Now I just need to order that tool from ebay - I sat there with me torx set looking confused until I realised it was a different thing all together ! I understand those latches on the b-pillar can be replaced with those which have rubber around them so might sort them out too !
