Hi Everyone. Check engine light came on a few weeks ago and getting a number of codes back. Car seems to be running fine, though am getting a bit more startup smoke than usual and seems to be buurning a bit of oil now, which is getting me worried about bore scoring. Not sure if these codes could be related to any of that. Anyone have any suggestions about where to start investigating here? Codes are -
P0431 - Warm up cat converter, bank 2, efficiency below threshold
P1095 - Mass air flow ahead of throttle valve implausible (too high)
P0492 - Secondary air injection system, bank 2 malfunction
P2189 - System too lean at idle, bank 2
Thanks!
I thought someone would have offered this guy some help by now....
So, I'll throw my $0.02 in.
I haven't seen a MAF code with relation to smoke on startup.
That said, maf can for sure make it rich so it may very well be faulty
The catalyst code could be the cats... and/
o2 sensors
.
Both are very old at this stage.
And the lean/secondary air injection codes are also pointing at the likely culprit.
AOS
is also in there for things to rule out smoke on start.
Fear of bore scoring is real, but you should really be taking this to your local
Porsche
independent garage for proper diagnosis.
Too many internet mechanics that cannot lay hands to do the proper diagnostic work that needs to be done in person for your issues.
Good luck

Thanks. Yes, I need to take it into a garage for proper diagnositcs. I like to try to do minor wrenching on my own, but at this point it needs to be checked out. I did replace the
AOS
a month or so back, which didn't change anything in regard to smoke at startup. I think I had two of the codes then, now it started throwing four.
I'm extremely worried about bore scoring at this point. Could all of this be somehow related to oil getting into the combustion changer and then into intake, and then screwing with all the sensors? Not sure if that makes sense or not. The car always smoked at startup (at least the last year and ~3k miles since I bought it, but didn't start burning oil until I did a track day a couple months ago. No idea what I'll do if it's bore scored... I'm dealing with fairly advanced cancer at the moment and certainly can't afford a rebuild right now 👉😑
Stop the speculation, when it's in for diagnostics have them pull the plugs and scope the cylinders.
Then panic.... or not?

Eventually, yes. But the closest
porsche
garage is an hour away and it's difficult for me to leave the house for the
next
few months with all this stupid chemotherapy kicking my ***, so was hoping to try an get some insight before that.
