Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Basically, LN have a replacement ceramic hybrid bearing and removal tool, which allows the problematic IMS bearing to be changed with the engine in situ.
Leading evidence: 'Replace with the engine in situ' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check autofarm and hartech' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Also they recommend changing the oil at 6k, keeping the revs 'up' when warmed up (driving it like a Porsche should be drove)and other interesting things.

Engine feels strong and fit so far and uses very little oil.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Being a 996 owner, this is always at the back of my mind, came across this company that offers an up-grade kit. Also they recommend changing the oil at 6k, keeping the revs 'up' when warmed up (driving it like a Porsche should be drove)and other interesting things.
What do you think about the info?
Are there company's in the UK that offer the up-grade, and how much would it be?
Cheers all

I know that Hartech & Autofarm offer IMS upgrades & preventative action, but I believe that's all been covered on hear before  Probably many times
I don't think it's cheap. Also, as I understand it there are other weak spots in the M96 996 engine which may also be worth having rectified whilst the IMS is being looked at. This in turn makes it even more expensive. :dont know:
From what I have been told, Hartech is a good place to start.
They have a strong background dealing with this sort of failure plus other issues such as the ovlisation of the cylinders over time etc...
Jake Raby at flat6innovations (

) has written this up on his web site, and has posted quite a lot about it on RennTech. Basically, LN have a replacement ceramic hybrid bearing and removal tool, which allows the problematic IMS bearing to be changed with the engine in situ. V. expensive bearing, but cheaper than an engine rebuild!
Cheers, Ill ring Autofarm tomorrow and see what they advise.
Might get that ceramic bearing kit and have a go my-self       , maybe not!
I have an Autofarm rebuilt engine with all the modifications in mine including the IMS bearing. They can do it sparately but whilst the engine is out and in bits its worth considering other preventitive measures as well, or more sensibly given the costs wait till something goes wrong. Engine feels strong and fit so far and uses very little oil.
I've heard good things about Hartech also, who do something similar.
