Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I’d say around $100 for the top mount, $100 for a new trim piece used off eBay and $150 labour at a garage

Suspected cause

I only saw this one other time, in that case it was due to corrosion which doesn't seem to be a factor here.

Is this a strut tower collapse or just a broken cover?

Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1Original post

Found this after driving my 2006 Cayman S . Nothing about the handling seemed off, but I want to be sure what this is. It looks like a strut tower problem, any ideas and what it might cost?

POST 2Original post

yeah i'd say thats not normal interior wear. That strut mount has failed

POST 3Original post

Yeah, top mount has failed and pushed up 2”.

POST 5Original post

I only saw this one other time, in that case it was due to corrosion which doesn't seem to be a factor here. How much is just speculation without a mechanic's further evaluation.

POST 6Original post

It sure tbh, I’d do it myself. I’d say around $100 for the top mount, $100 for a new trim piece used off eBay and $150 labour at a garage

POST 7Original post

I would like to know how you actually broke your rear top hat. Seems that other stuff would happen as well. How was the wheel that hit the pot hole, dented, and the tire ripped off, especially after your statement, "driving with nothing about handling seemed off". Show us a picture of the rear wheel well and hub carrier please.
