Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Sold my 996 c4 cab back last summer and just wondered about buying another 996. Been away from 911's since and was wondering what has happened to 996 prices?I have a local car in mind and if I bargain hard 11k will buy it, after checks of course. Do you reckon these will ever drop much below the 10k mark? If so I might just steer clear as it is only a second car.

POST 2Original post

In my honest opinion, there is still a healthy supply of good mileage 996's out there so I don't see depreciation ceasing just yet. Most of them are used daily and hence put up big mileage numbers much faster than the older weekend hobby cars. I would say it will take another two years before we see the 996 numbers come into line with demand and prices harden. By then, I would guess that the best, most well kept examples of the original water cooled machines will begin to command competitive bids. Having said that, low mileage 993's will always be a lot rarer and will always be a tempting alternative to some. So 996's may drop a bit more but generally, it's a fantastic time to buy them. FYOG

I think prices are going to continue to slip, the good ones will eventually breakaway and command higher prices. These are expensive and complex cars so it is also hard to see them falling into the Corsa brigade's hands at the same time. Also, with the 997 also dropping and volumes of overall watercooled numbers being what they are it will take time to happen. So bit of an unknown really, but agreed, good examples will start to command higher values...

POST 5Original post

I'm just collecting (Today... wheeeeeeeeeeeee!) my 996 which falls in the mid £20,000 bracket. I will probably expect to sell it in 2 years and I am reckoning on taking about 12.5% deprecation each year, on 8,000 to 9,000 miles / year

POST 6Original post

Statistics say used car prices are on the up. Compared to a year ago the current prices have rocketed. There were 50/60k miler 996's floating 13 - 16k mark but now there are loads of 80 - 100+k examples asking well over 16k I was looking at a Range Rover Sport TDV6 about 12 months ago, it was up for 22k with 52k miles, lots of extras FLRSH and so on... now looking again, only 4.4 V8s are that money, you can add a good 5k. So.... my vote says used car values are at an all time high. PS Any one wanna buy a lovely Black 996?
