Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hey there folks! I am getting that creak again from the rear trailing (tuning fork) arm that connects to the body mount and the LCA. Does anyone know the torque value for both connection points ? I previously added it to a list of things to do w a track inspection, but want to tackle this myself to save the hassle! Thanks in advance!! Kelly

POST 3Original post

Be careful with that table. IIRC this came up somewhere before and the 118 ft-lb for the diagonal brace might be an error. I think the fasteners are actually M12 or M10 on the 987.2 and you should use the lower spec. Let me see if I can find the thread.

POST 4Original post

Ah, here it is on reenlist. One guy stripped it because the torque spec may not have been right. I would investigate this further before doing the job to make sure you're using the right values. https://********.com/forums/987-for...-forum/1108618-torque-specs-for-rear-diagonal-diagonal-brace-support-plate.html

POST 5Original post

Hmm . . .I poured through my 2012 manual and saw nothing like that! However, this does not include the lower rear trailing arm aka tuning fork. It connects horizontally to the body and the LCA. Rear Sus.jpg vilshofen Sep 29, 2022 It is part 5 I am trying to get correct. Kelly

POST 6Original post

The guy on ******** was me! Small world. The table I put in calls the "part 5" the diagonal brace between the body and the Lower Control Arm. Definitely verify that it is an M14 bolt. I got the wrong diagonal item at the time (the part I screwed up was the diagonal under the transmission that holds the "pan" to the body) and tried to get to 118 ft/lbs instead of the 80 ft/lbs with the M12..... -Eric (964 a long time ago) 09 Cayman S 99 986

POST 7Original post

Got it, so Porsche appears to refer to two parts as the "diagonal brace", lol. That seems dangerous!

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
