Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Guys after my cleaning session and subsequent pics upload, i took the chance to have a good look around the car to work out any potential issues that might need sorting.

It shows how to change the seals, and how to lower the top with the windows up.

Basically, you pull them off, scrape off any glue residue, and stick the new ones back using Loctite 480 (super glue).
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

One thing that struck me was the wear on the rear window seal (drivers side), it seems the furry bits have disappeared if you can see what i mean...!
And on the passengers side there appears to be a small hole in the lower seal at the top of the 'b' post...
Anyone got any ideas of cost and availability of these things, and of course how easy they are to change??
Cheers
W
The flocked seals are bonded to the rear windows. Basically, you pull them off, scrape off any glue residue, and stick the new ones back using Loctite 480 (super glue). Part numbers:
Left - 996.543.615.03
Right - 996.543.616.03
£19.52+VAT each.
As for the other seal, I can't make it out from the photo. If it is item 3 in the attachment, then it is:
Left - 996.543.475.04
Right - 996.543.476.04
£49.25+VAT each
I don't know how these fit, I'm afraid.
Get the flock out of here.... !!!!
Cant believe in such a short space of time not only have i been given part numbers but also costs and how to fit the little devils...!!!
Many thanks..!!
Great info Rich - mine have the same problem and I always assumed it was going to be more hassle and cost than the benefit of nicely flocked seals.
I will now get it done
Prior to MY1999 they were rubber seals and squeaked like crazy. 'Flocked' is Mr P's word, not mine! This is taken from the TSB on the subject:
In order to prevent noises in the rear side/door window area, a new "flocked" seal is installed fromSeptember 3, 1998, and VIN: 99 9XS 65 1990.
If a customer of a vehicle produced prior to the above production date has a "Squeaking/clicking noise"complaint in the rear side/door window area, the new "flocked" seal should be installed.
