Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi
I need to remove my door lock (996) so I can replace the micro switches.
BUT I dont know what sort of 'key' I need for the 2 bolts that can be seen to hold the lock in the door. They are not T/TX and not Alen keys. Anyone know what I need where I can get them?
Plus has anyone replaced their micro switches, if so how did you do it?
Cheers
Tim
It is known as spline drive
Just can't remember the ruddy size.... think M12 Spline I know it is the exact same one for VW & Ford drive shafts... oh that will bug me so much I tempted to go up to the lock up in the freezing cold dark to find out!
(FYI) Here is how it works:
6 flat sided = allen
6 pointed star = TX / Torx drive
6 pointed star with hole = Tamper-proof Torx drive
12 pointed star = Spline drive
6 curved (flower like) = E-drive
Forgot to mention the where to buy
Where are you?? (I may be able to put you in touch with right people)
If you go into a motor factor and look / ask for the VW / Ford CVJ spline drive key it is available as a single key usually on a 3/8dr socket with a 30mm shaft.
It will also fit the striker catches on the B-pillars so you can adjust your door closure to perfection.
Thanks Lloyd, You the man!
Still wish I knew what size then I could order one fron internet, but i'll look in to it now I know what the damn thing is called.
Thanks
Tim (Mine too has some rust around striker plates!)
I must apologise for having a glass of vino too many last night...
M12?? What planet was I on
Ok, what I wrote is correct except for the size and VW comparison. VW / Ford driveshafts use M10
Porsche door locks & striker use M8
100% correct, trustworthy (now sober)
I'd go for something like this:
http://www.toolsinstock.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=683863
These spline drives are found in different sizes all over the place... a man can never have enough tools :bandit:
Thanks Lloyd again for your help. I'm off to Machine Mart today and will get one. Their stock calls them a CV Spline and Not CVJ spline, do you think this is different? I better take my car and offer it it up to be sure.
Cheers again and i'll take pics of the micro switch replacement to help others when I get it!
Tim
