Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Second test drive in the one I have gone for this afternoon, much neater and less worn interior (Yesterday's was a 40,000 mile 2001.

After all the planning of the test drive, what did you notice most?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Didn't take as long as I thought.
I have beautiful Seal Grey / Black arriving next Saturday.
Thanks for the help so far from the guys here. I don't doubt there will be lots and lots of questions to follow.
Congratulations.

As I recall the main thought in my mind was "..must... not... grin... from... ear... to... ear..." in an effort to retain some price negotiation credibility!!
First test drive my overwhelming first impression was how civilised it is for a 'supercar', certainly compared to the aircooled jobby I drove all those years ago. Here's a car I won't be unhappy about letting Mrs XIIVVX loose in (Just not too often)
Second test drive in the one I have gone for this afternoon, much neater and less worn interior (Yesterday's was a 40,000 mile 2001. Today's a 50,000 mile 2004 with the sat-nav dash)
The PSE makes such a difference too. That's when the rictus grin really set in.
Totally agree. What got me interested was having a drive in a friends 993 targa. Great fun, but I didn't think I could live with it every day as my only car. Hence tried a 996 tip and that was me hooked.
Have the standard exhaust though, maybe I need to think about that. I'm pretty near to Lloyd Six, maybe need to join his waiting list!!
Enjoy!
Ah the dreaded PSE.
That's what screwed me over. The very first 996 I went to see had one. The salesman started the car up and that was me hooked. I know, drive several, see what they're all about etc. Not me, bought the first one I saw!
In my defence it did go through a PPI and apart from an alternator failure in the first week (supplying dealer sorted it with no fuss) she has given me no trouble (reaches for lump of wood).
The more I drive mine the more I love it, I'm into year 4 of ownership
Congrats on the purchase and remember to post pics when she arrives.
Yes.
I was chucked off the 'Jaguar Owners' when a mod removed a signature rather than asking me if I'd remove it (Which I would have done quite happily) late on a Saturday night. An excess of booze led me to reply 'WGAF?'
So then I moved to the X-Type owners forum, but that has been really flaky of late. Shame.
I'll miss the X. I needed a motorway cruiser and it fits the bill perfectly, wafting along in near-silence at 77 mph on the cruise control with the fuel consumption at 51 > 52 mpg.
Now I need the cruiser no longer the 996 is living my dream. Once I leave Porsche ownership I am sure the X-Type will be one of the options I'll consider
I really have fallen in love with the colour.
At first I was convinced I wanted a silver of some sort.
A little way in to the search I decided that black was the only colour to have
When I saw this one in the metal, the first time I had really paid any attention to Seal Grey I thought "What a fabulous colour"
I have to laugh because the Jaguar which is a light gold colour is described on the V5 as 'Beige'
Now I'm ending up with a car described as 'Grey'
The guys at Swansea will think I'm really boring
For me it was seal grey was always my ideal colour. However, I would've been happy with one in black or a very dark blue had the rest of the boxes been ticked.
Colour is one of those personal things though isn't it. I've got to say though, I do think that modern Porsche's are one of the few cars that suit the 'louder' colours. They're definitely more eye-catching, but neon yellow just isn't for me.
fantastic example. looks great.
do make sure u get to treat the paint work properly to retain the new-ness.
looks great, well done. BRING ON SUMMER and DRY ROADS!!!!
