Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all - I've been on 911UK for a while now, however, have only really been paying attention to 964 posts... I have a 964 C2, however, next weekend should be the owner of a lovely Arctic Silver + Metropole blue leather 996 C4S Tip! I cannot wait... however, I have to because it being fitted with some new Michelin boots, brakes and a 48k Service before I pick it up. The question I have is related to the cigarette lighter. I've got a CTEK 3600 battery conditioner and need to know if the lighter socket is switched or not as won't work if the ignition needs to be on to operate the lighter... Anyone advise? :?: Looking forward to contributing and hopefully getting on some track days in it in the near future. Cheers

POST 2Original post

Good stuff James To power units the ignition needs to be on, but for battery charging just plug in your CTEK3600 and it will work fine

POST 4Original post

I have a 2004 targa and I believe the cig lighter is permanently live. Specifically I have plugged in a phone charger lead which has an LED light in it, then locked the car on the remote, left it overnight and gone back to the car in the morning. LED was still glowing green. I didn't actually leave a phone connected, but I assume the LED would go out pretty quick if the voltage was not present.

POST 5Original post

If it's pre facelift, the ignition has to be ON for the cigar lighter to work. What year is yours? TB

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I thanks for your replies- think it should work fine as mine will be a 2004 reg. Will post pics next weekend all being well!

Does this mean you have to shave off half of you beard? I'm confused?

POST 8Original post

what is what I've always used, going direct always seemed the best way

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

MMMMMMMHHHRRR.... yes.... has already started falling out! There's some pretty beardy dialogue on this part of the forum though... although perhaps its just designer stubble and not yet manifested itself in total beardyness!
