i recently changed the cdr 22 stereo out for a new sony unit which is working fine but was left with the bus connectors for cd changer and another set on a yellow plug i dont know what they do

with regard to the centre console lid i see there is a switch and a catch in same recess and have tried holding this down by hand and setting the alarm but same result

hi guys i have a small issue i dont know whats causing my car to both beep the horn once and flash the interior lights flash on for a few seconds i have checked the armrest/odments box is shut and have tried with it both unlocked and locked but both result in same thing and both boot and engine lid are shut as are both doors i recently changed the cdr 22 stereo out for a new sony unit which is working fine but was left with the bus connectors for cd changer and another set on a yellow plug i dont know what they do is the stereo connected into the alarm in any way? or is it just coincidence? with regard to the centre console lid i see there is a switch and a catch in same recess and have tried holding this down by hand and setting the alarm but same result anyone got any ideas or is this a fault with one of the door/ lid switches? thanks in advance tim

Not sure, but i think there is a micro switch that touches the side of the Porsche stereo, on to a contact point and if this isn't the same on the new unit the alarm will not set, as i say i'm not 100% confident, but i'm sure someone will be along soon to correct me, best of luck with it :dont know:

On the Porsche head units there is a brown/blue wire which goes to the radio frame contact. When you remove the radio, it grounds the wire, and sets the alarm off. What most people tend to do when fitting aftermarket sets is to connect this to a ground tag on the frame - which causes the beep. Disconnect the wire and insulate it and you will lose the beep.

The same effect can be had by either taping the metal contact or pushing a short length of card down the side to separate the contact from the casing. The outgoing head unit has a plastic insert on the side which you can use as a guide for its location without taking the unit out.
