Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Adjust the tail pipes to extend out 1" further or better still buy the extended big Chrome type (Mk2 tails) off me for £50 pair

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone know if a rear PU[bumper] from a 2002-2005 996 c2 will fit a 1998 model? Any differences in face lift version. TB

POST 2Original post

The facelift PU is deeper, as it has a small 'skirt' around it. The exhaust tip downpipes were lengthened to take this into account too. The retaining frame, reinforcements, and heatshields are also different. How that affects the fitting, I couldn't say.......

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Cheers Richard, I have the option of two but I think I will go for the 1998 one as a direct replacement. TB

POST 4Original post

Hi, do you know the colour of the face lift one...I'm after a seal grey one!!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It was blue in the photo, on fleabay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....787624&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1182 TB

POST 6Original post

It goes straight on, the only mods / adjustments required are: 1. The lower edge at either side is fastened using 2 Torx T25 (4 in total) the forward ones line up but the rear most ones don't (easy to mod with a drill) 2. Adjust the tail pipes to extend out 1" further or better still buy the extended big Chrome type (Mk2 tails) off me for £50 pair :thumb:
