Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Folks, I put an order in last December 22 with my local Porsche dealer for a new turbo s after being told it would be a two year wait minimum and would almost definitely be a Gen 2 992 car. I already have a 2 year old 992.1 turbo s. Today I was asked to lock in my final order and my car will be ready by June so obviously won’t be a Gen 2 car as that’s not even been announced yet. Currently weighing up if I should accept the order or wait as I have hammered the mileage on my current car and it’s not a great spec whereas new one would be mega spec. When do you think we could start to expect to see a 992.2 gen turbo s?

POST 2Original post

Assuming it's released as a 2025 model year, earliest I'd expect to see one would be Q3, 2024. It could well be later than that as historically the Turbo has been released well after the Carrera. I would guess your allocation for a 992.1 could be a cancelled order - at least it will still be MY23 pricing.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Price on the configurator is coming out £18k more than when I spec the car in December 😳 Do Porsche normally honour price pre increase?

POST 4Original post

if you are locking the spec now then your pricing will be different to what is shown on the configurator and it will be the MY23 prices so should be the same as you spec'd in December.

POST 5Original post

I’m in exactly the same boat, will be having a chat with my dealer tomorrow to confirm the .2 release date. Expecting Q1 or Q2 2024 for the TurboS. Btw funny how there’s a huge release of Turbo S build slots for June, wondering if there’s been a slow down in orders for all models recently, as I was definitely told 2024 for delivery.

POST 6Original post

I spoke to my OPC about a Turbo S a few weeks ago, basically he suggested about 7 months from deposit to delivery which is about the same as the OP. He also said there was a ton of interest in the 992.2 which perhaps is why .1 cars are reasonably easy to get. Back to the OP's original question, my suggestion is to take the new Turbo S in a decent but not excessive spec, with an agreement that you'll get one of the early .2 cars. If you spec the car cleverly the potential cost of ownership is perhaps not too bad especially if your price is locked in pre 2023 price rises. If your own car already has significant mileage and perhaps not an ideal spec then the additional depreciation/tyres/service over the next 12-24 months waiting for the .2 car could be quite high, possibly very high.

POST 7Original post

I’d definitely try and use ordering a car for delivery this summer as a way of Suru ring a .2 It is probably not a suprise to any of us that wait times for build slots are suddenly becoming much shorter. Early .2 cars will no doubt be in huge demand. Getting an early Turbo S is a tried and tested part of the strategy that a lot of customers have for getting a GT car….big money car that is then sold back to the OPC a few months later for minimal (if any) depreciation. Everyone is a winner…..

POST 8Original post

We have been quoted a June delivery now too?? Cash down around February time when we bought the Gt3 2022. Invited in to spec the car and lock the spec in around Feb 2023. Car was supposed to be May 2023 but has now moved to June 2023. Have they got a job lot of parts that need using up in June or something?

POST 9Original post

What OPC's are these car coming from, I placed an order for Turbo S cab last November, but haven't been told anything different from my 2024 expected delivery date. I ordered from Colchester.

I ordered from Colchester. Have you put a deposit down and / or locked the final spec in? Ours was about a year after we put a deposit down when we were invited in to go through the final spec and get a order placed on the Porsche system. Quoted around May for delivery but now pushed back until June time, anything could happen I suppose. We have bought a few cars from Bolton so used them again for the Turbo S.

POST 11Original post

Transfer to .2 and buy a used 992 TTS in the meantime.

POST 12Original post

A mate ordered his in Summer '21 and still hasn't got it.

POST 13Original post

I spoke to an OPC recently and was told if you spec a turbo s now it will be delivered around August and it would be pre price rise - so about 12k cheaper than current basic configurator price

POST 16Original post

Ok , You won't really know when you will get the car if you haven't locked the spec in yet. You'll just have to wait for the phonecall Even when you've locked in anything could happen. A friend was waiting for his GT4 rs and his app kept telling him 2 weeks until delivery for about 3 months

POST 17Original post

Your build will be a MY23 cancelled order for sure.. trust me. Id grab it with both hands, pre-price increase probably free driving for a while at least.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Taken it and gone for a monster spec. Your right in that it’s MY23 so pre 15% price increase!!

POST 19Original post

Managed to find a cancelled order at Swindon, paid my deposit this week, and sent a spec over, should get my new car end of July this year now. Have left my existing deposit with Colchester as it seems I may be inline for a 992.2 based on their waiting times. Happy days.

POST 20Original post

I’m waiting on my 992.1, which finished production around 10 days ago. I must have got a cancelled order as I only enquired around three months ago. Got a build slot within a week and was able to tweak the spec as I wanted. Another step to hopefully getting a GT3

POST 21Original post

Has anyone got any news on the potential release of 992.2 Turbo S cars in terms of release dates? Considering a 992.1 Turbo S given their current attractive pricing but might be worth waiting for the new one to release first to get a better deal if it's imminent
