Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

I’m replacing the front trunk actuator and latch. The safety catch (red handled) is connected to a second actuator with a pull cable. What is this second actuator that appears to do nothing but open the safety latch? And when would it operate?

POST 2Original post

I just realized it’s the release for someone locked in the front but doesn’t seem like it will open the latch. Is there something missing inside the latch?

POST 3Original post

Of course the emergency release also actuates the primary actuator! Mine is dead so it didn’t register in my brain. Mystery solved.
