Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Chaps, Not having the best of luck recently with my 996 c2 ('1998')- my windscreen washer is not functioning correctly. There are obviously two units which shoot out the water (with each unit having 2 nozzles). The drivers side unit fires out water like normal, but the passenger side has nothing? Any ideas? Cheers

POST 2Original post

Hello, have you popped a pin (or something else suitable that wont break off) down the small outlet hole in the jet? it can get blocked with crap, so should sort it, be careful not to force the pin down or widen the hole and lessen 'squirt' performance. Its deff worth a try. good luck.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks IDP - I tried the nozzles first with no luck. Popped of the various covers to see if the hose had become detached and that looked ok (though a bit of water on the outside of the hose). Then sat in the car and kept the squirter on, drivers side came on straight away and after about 10 secs the passenger side started working? Saw water on the floor near both front wheel arches? Guessing that's where the excess water has dripped to? Or is that some issue?

POST 4Original post

They're very easy to remove, remember to disconnect the heater cable. Then give them a good blow through, likely to have a bit of dirt inside. could try swapping them over to confirm it's the nozzle and not the tube. TB

POST 5Original post

On early cars like yours you can take the nozzle to bits. Inside, you will find a silicone tube which acts as a one-way valve. This gets gummed up and restricts the jet. Just clean it all up and put it back together and it will work like new.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks chaps - its working fine at the moment, but if it gets iffy again I'll take it apart !
