Just a note that the LN Magnets can brake if you torque them down to the factory recommended torque.

Maybe previous owner or mechanic stripped the original threads and replaced the drain plug bushing using an SAE (or at lease non-OEM) threaded plug.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

I purchased a couple of magnetic oil drain plugs from LN Engineering and when I went to install one it wouldn't screw in by hand as the OE Porsche non-magnetic one does. I am hesitant to force it in with the socket and ratchet . I always screwed my oil pan drain plugs in by hand until the gasket contacts the pan. Have you had this problem and if so what did you come up with as a solution? I have contacted LN and have been told that the magnetic drain plug is an exact replacement for the OE plug and they have not had any problems with fitment . Thanks Wayne

POST 2Original post

I have the Dimple magnetic oil drain plug and have no problem screwing it back by hand just like the OEM plug. Check the size they gave you, it should be M18x1.5x12 if you have the 9A1 engine.

POST 3Original post

Thanks for the info. LN sent me 2 replacements for my original purchased 2 and with same result . I'll look for the one you use for next oil change in spring Thanks again

POST 4Original post

Oh no. I hope the one I bought works. It’s on hand awaiting next oil change… Shawn in VA (USA)

POST 5Original post

Have the LN fits fine, ultra strong magnet too.

POST 6Original post

Seems odd. Wrose, are you the original owner? Maybe previous owner or mechanic stripped the original threads and replaced the drain plug bushing using an SAE (or at lease non-OEM) threaded plug.

POST 7Original post

Good thinking from RSchwerer, that could definitely be the problem.

POST 8Original post

No issues with LN here either. Just a note that the LN Magnets can brake if you torque them down to the factory recommended torque. I’ve torqued mine just enough to feel the washer compress and stopped which is close to 19 ft Lbs.
