I track the car regularly and replaced the bearings about 3 years ago, so I doubt this was an installation issue, as it didn't present earlier.

Suggestion

Other than the bent bolts and needing to replace the bearing to replace them, there was no damage to the vehicle.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1Original post

Hello, I just was looking to see if this had happened to anyone else... My Cayman R suddenly started to make a thumping noise from the right front while I was on the track. I traced this to the loosening of the Bolts that hold the Wheel Bearing Retaining plate and eventually making contact with the inner surface of the hub. I track the car regularly and replaced the bearings about 3 years ago, so I doubt this was an installation issue, as it didn't present earlier. Other than the bent bolts and needing to replace the bearing to replace them, there was no damage to the vehicle. I am going to make these bolts an inspection point in the future. Thoughts? any similar experiences? Thanks, Arnie
