Suggestion

In short, you need to disconnect the rear axle in addition to what you did in the front to allow enough movement/clearance to get the spring/strut combination out of the wheel well.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

There are a couple of great videos on the internet for replacing FRONT struts on a 987.1 but videos on replacing REAR's don't seem to be consistent.. I've done the fronts but the rears seem to be a bit more complex than just popping out a drop link, dropping tie rod end and loosening a lower control arm bolt. Being "this end" of the PCar is involved with the POWER I just want to avoid screwing something up. My 06 has PASM so I'm just replacing with B4's. Not a Track Car or even AX just spirited communing. Anyone point me to where I need to be in the Forums or online? Many thanks.

POST 2Original post

There used to be a great write up on the DIY for springs which I think was lost in the sit migration. I can't easily post it, but if you PM me your email address I'll send it over. In short, you need to disconnect the rear axle in addition to what you did in the front to allow enough movement/clearance to get the spring/strut combination out of the wheel well.

POST 3Original post

Thank you so much for your reply. Your timing is excellent as I've been waiting on the rears via backorder for about 3 months and they came in today. Not sure how to PM you (or maybe I'm doing that now). I haven't been on Planet-9 in quite sometime. My e-mail is [email removed] .

POST 5Original post

This looks great!! Thank YOU! I've only quickly brief'd it and will be starting figure out if this will happen this weekend or next (likely next ). I study these videos, take notes, line up torque specs etc. Did the front's less than 1,000 miles ago and presume an alignment will be in order once I'm all done. Big thanks again!
