Suggestion

When I questioned the mileage (suspiscious of some joyriding going on) I was told that to bleed the cooling system properly then the car needs a 60 mile test drive to get all the air out.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

My 2011 Cayamn R has just had the coolant pipes replaced by my regular Porsche mechanic. The car was in for a number of days and has come back with an extra 60 miles on the clock. When I questioned the mileage (suspiscious of some joyriding going on) I was told that to bleed the cooling system properly then the car needs a 60 mile test drive to get all the air out. Sounds excessive to me, is it?

POST 2Original post

There is equipment available that creates a vacuum, it removes the air without a drive. Also, you could have driven it and topped it yourself, there are procedures outlining that in your owners manual. I can't speak to the mileage but it's an "R" so some Ferris Bueller activity is possible but that horse left the barn, wax drive and enjoy.

POST 3Original post

when I did the 3rd radiator on my 981CS, I had issues with air in the system even using the Airlift tool. I kept driving it around testing it, then when I finally got all of them removed, I did a long drive to make sure it would be ok before my next DE.
