There are a bunch of older threads on this topic.
I'd like there to be something newer for those looking into rib crushing power out of their 987 brakes.
Most know of the giro disc
rotor
and yellow pad upgrade
Then there's steel lines, GT brake ducts and GT3
master cylinder
upgrade
If that is still not sufficient, where to go from here while keeping OEM calipers/carriers/etc
I realize the stopping power is relative.
Looking to get the best stopping power short of a
PCCB
upgrade. Running 19's and street use.
Thanks for your suggestions.

I was pretty underwhelmed with the braking (especially initial bite) of my
06 Cayman S
that I picked up in March (91,500 miles). It had the Girodisk front
rotor
upgrade, as well as GT3 brake ducts in the front. I initially just tried swapping to slightly more aggressive pads (Hawk HPS 5.0), it was on a set of very new looking Textar pads. It did seem to have more initial brake bite and feel a bit better overall. The bigger difference that I noticed was when I added Goodridge stainless brake lines, and flushed/changed the brake fluid with Hawk 600 degree brake fluid. Night and day difference as far as pedal feel goes. Firmer pedal, and the brakes feel very linear and much quicker to respond.
The fluid that came out was quite dirty and was probably long overdue for a change. I also added a new set of Sebro slotted rear brake rotors, as the stock rotors were fairly worn and started to develop some small cracks between the holes. This setup would probably work well for mild to medium intensity tracking. More track specific pads would be better, but would have more negatives in street use. For what its worth, the Hawk HPS 5.0 that I am using are just as quiet and dust less than the Textar (which from my research, look like a basic OEM style street pad).
Great info.
I've done GT3 master
GT3 ducts
Goodrich lines
The fluid was flushed before I did the master upgrade so it's very much fresh.
I'm spoiled, because the brakes in my R8 will crush your chest cavity and I find that even in regular street driving the only complaint in the
boxster
is the brakes just don't bite.
For sure the
next
step is bigger.
Just hoping for suggestions/part numbers of the GT3 or better upgrade options.

I'm thinking that a different brake pad should help the lack of brake bite. Larger brakes wouldn't necessarily mean more bite.
How did you like the GT3
master cylinder
upgrade? I've been thinking of doing that down the road. I've heard that it helps make heel-toe shifting easier. I haven't learned that technique yet myself. It seems like the difference in pedal height on my current setup is less than ideal for that.
it made the pedal feel a little more lively, but I cannot say it did a tremendous improvement as I did the lines at the same time so cannot target what (both!) made the bigger improvement.
worth every penny tho.
I fully believe the brakes are designed this way, less power assist. Why do I think that? KIA & Subaru brakes are so grabby I need to adjust driving those cars no matter what car I came from.
